Liturgy

Lectors

Mission:

To proclaim the Word of God in the Mass liturgy.

Activities:

Proclaim the Word of God using a strong public speaking voice, a commitment to continued improvement of speaking skills and a dedication to practice and prepare during the week prior to proclaiming the Word of God. Mandatory training during Lenten season is required for new lectors. Lector schedules take individuals' preferences into account whenever possible.

Mass Greeters

Mission:

Extend a warm welcome to parishioners and guests to the celebration of Mass at St. Francis of Assisi.

Activities:

Mass Greeters are present at the entrances of the church before weekend Masses to greet and welcome everyone to the Mass celebration.

Music department

Mission:

The music ministry is designed to assist and lead the congregation in the celebration of the Liturgy. This requires the time and talent of many people including organist, instrumentalists, and singers. Included in the St.Francis music ministry are a large traditional choir, which sings every Sunday at the 10:00 a.m. Mass; a Men's Ensemble, which sings the third Sunday of the month at the 11:30 a.m. Mass; a children's choir, grades four through six, which sings once a month; a folk choir, which sings twice a month, and a small select group, the Sacred Ensemble, which sings every third Saturday. New members are always welcome and needed in all of these groups. For more information, please contact the church office, or just come to rehearsal!

Offertory Gifts

Mission:

To arrange for parish families to carry up Offertory Gifts during the weekend Masses.

Ushers

Mission:

To guide, assist and welcome parishioners to Mass with a pleasant demeanor. Ushers need to be alert to the special needs, safety and comfort of the congregation. This can be a shared activity with your spouse and is an opportunity to meet new people. There are no required meetings and training will be provided the first time you are scheduled, at the Mass time of your choice.
