Family Life

Family Finance

Mission:

Learn how God guides us to be faithful stewards of the financial resources he has entrusted to us; benefiting our families, the Church and community.

Activities:

This committee offers two resources. The first is a small group study, 7 Steps to Financial Freedom, a Catholic based program. The program spans eight weeks. The second are workshops on various subjects, all within the context of God's teachings for the financial gifts he has shared with us. The workshops will provide the Scriptural basis and practical tips to enhance each family's finances.

Note: The Family Finance Committee is not a financial or estate planning resource that takes the place of qualified professionals.

Fun Night

Mission:

To bring together parents, faculty, students, parishioners, and the community for a safe, fun, family-oriented night of activities during the Halloween season. The evening is filled with room-to-room games, raffles, silent gift basket auction, haunted house, and lots of homemade goodies. Fun Night encourages school and parish involvement with all proceeds benefiting SFA School.

Mom's Day Out

Mission:

The Mom's Day Out Program is designed to provide a service to stay-at-home moms and their young children.
In exchange for babystiing  with a team of other moms one day a month, the mom in turn gets three days of "free time". Meanwhile the children spend their time in a caring, playful environment learning to make new friends, play together and overcome some of the apprehension associated with parental separation. It also becomes a ministry of moms to meet other moms, making new friends. Moms also meet once or twice a month outside of Mom's Day Out to enjoy fellowship with each other: kid free.

Activities:

Mom's Day Out meets from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays during the fall and spring (Aug-May), and Thursdays during the summer (June-July to accommodate teacher schedules). Kids 6 month to potty-trained meet in the St. Francis Nursery and potty-trained to kindergarten graduation meet in St. Clare Basement. Parents take turns working the different locations once a month with their team of other moms. Children have access to a variety of structured activities, as well as, free time.

Nursery

Mission:

To coordinate childcare volunteers for parish activities; to promote activities/groups that serve parish families with young children; to provide a clean and safe childcare environment.

Activities:

Volunteer childcare in the nursery for parish activities and groups, assist with cleaning of toys in nursery, develop new programs to support families with young children.

Welcoming Committee

Mission:

To greet and welcome each new parishioner to the St. Francis of Assisi family, so that they may feel comfortable living as disciples of Christ in St. Francis of Assisi Parish. To provide new parishioners with helpful reference information and to encourage them to become involved in the various organizations and ministries found at St. Francis of Assisi.

Activities:

Meet once a year, or as needed, to set goals and objectives and discuss ways to make new parishioners feel welcome in the parish. Letters are mailed to all new parishioners who register in parish, inviting them to visit the Welcoming Committee table after any Mass on the third weekend of the month. Committee members encourage new parishioners to get involved in the parish and answer questions about various ministries and activities in the parish. New members are also invited to attend a parish tour given every three months to ask questions and become more familiar with their new parish. Snacks are provided for the tour.
